ڈاکٹر شاہد مسعود صاحب کے مقاصد سے قطعء نظر انکی باتوں سے اختلاف ممکن نہیں کہ الله تعالی بض لوگوں کو بے انتہا دولت اور بلند ترین عہدوں پر پہچا دینے کے باوجود انکو عزت احترام سے محروم رکھتا ہے. وہ تمام زندگی پیسہ کماتے اور گالیاں سنتے چلے جاتے ہیں اور پھر کروڑوں روپیہ ایمج بلڈنگ اداروں پر خرچ کرتے ہیں کہ پیسہ تو بہت آگیا اب ایمج کہاں سے خریدی جائے. انکا حکم ماننے پر مجبور ملازمین بھی اپنے دل میں انہیں بد دُعائیں دے رہے ہوتے ہیں. کیا یہ عجب قانون قدرت نہیں کہ دولت اور عہدے کا تعلق عزت سے نہیں ہوا کرتا. آج اس ملک کے اعَلیٰ ترین عہدوں پر فائز لوگ جس طرح ذلیل و خوار اور رسوا ہو رہے ہیں اور اپنی وضاہتیں پیش کر رہے ہیں، کیا ہم میں کوئی قدرت کی ان نشانیوں کو سمجھنے کے لایق ہے؟ کیا ہم اب بھی سنبھلنے کو تیار نہیں ہیں ؟ .

این آر او سے فایدہ اٹھانے والوں کی لسٹ سامنے آنے کے بعد صدر زرداری بھی ملزموں میں شامل ہو چکے ہیں. صدر کو اسوقت آئینی تحفظ ضرور حاصل ہے لیکن انکی اخلاقی پوزیشن بہت کمزور ہو چکی ہے، اب انکو سمجھ لینا چاہئیے کہ قوم انکی پشت پر نہیں کھڑی ہے اور قوم یہ کہنے میں حق بجانب ہے کہ ایک چور لٹیرا صدر ملک کر حکومت کر رہا ہے اور کل کو اگر غیر آئینی طریقے سے انکو نکالا جاتا ہے تو عوام کی طرف ہے نہایت ہی کمزور مزاحمت ہوگی

وزیر اعظم گیلانی کا بیاں نہایت قابل ستائش ہے کہ اگر میری بیوی کا این آر او سے فایدہ اٹھانا ثابت ہو جائے تو میں استیفاء دے دونگا. کاش یہی بیاں صدر آصف زرداری کی طرف سے بھی آتا کہ استثنا حاصل ہونے کے باوجود میںاپنے عہدے سے مستفی ہو کر عدالتوں کا سامنا کروں گا. اس سے انکا قد عوام میں کتنا بڑھ کیا ہوتا وہ تصور بھی نہیں کر سکتے. گیلانی صاحب این آر او سے فایدہ اٹھانے والے سب لوگوں کو فارغ کریں اور انکا نام ایگزٹ کنٹرول لسٹ میں شامل کریں. این آر او کو وجود میں لانے والے تمام افراد کو انصاف کے کٹہرے میں لایا جائے خواہ وہ سابق جرنیل ہوں یا موجودہ آرمی چیف، ان طاقتوں کو بھی عوام کے سامنے لایا جائے جنہوں نے این آر او میں اہم کردار ادا کیا خواہ امریکا ہو، انگلینڈ ہو یا سعودی عرب یا کوئی اور ملک

بہتر ہوتا کہ ڈاکٹر صاحب روئیداد خان جیسے کرپٹ آدمی کو بلانے کی بجائے ڈاکٹر مبشر حسن سے بات کرتے. کم از کم ڈاکٹر مبشر حسن کی بات کی کوئی اہمیت تو ہوتی اور اسی طرح صالح ظافر کی بجائے کسی قانل اعتبار صحافی کو تبصرے کے لیے بلایا جاتا، فضول لوگوں کو تبصروں کے لیے بلا کر ڈاکٹر صاحب اپنی بات کی اہمیت کم کر لیتے ہیں

Pakistan’s Ambassador to US Husain Haqqani has said that he is not a beneficiary of the NRO, but was accused of illegal use of power, not of corruption.

A private TV channel reported Husain Haqqani as saying that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had not filed any case against him. “However, I am ready to appear in court if there is any case against me,” he added.

He said he had the right to ask why his name was included in the list of NRO beneficiaries, adding he would prosecute those who had put his name in the NRO list.

He said a court had cleared him in cases filed against him and the court was never asked to postpone the cases against him.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to Britain Wajid Shamsul Hassan expressed his surprise at the inclusion of his name in the list, saying he was not expecting this. He said he was neither a beneficiary of the NRO nor had the NAB filed any case against him.

The official announcement of the NRO beneficiaries’ list has left many red faces in the PPP government, some who had been outrageously aggressive against the media and some journalists by name.

It must have been a shocking surprise for the ex-minister for commerce and presently Defence Minister Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar, who publicly announced that his corruption cases were decided under ordinary law and he did not take benefit from the notorious NRO as the government’s list carries his name among the top beneficiaries of the infamous ordinance.

It is pertinent to mention here that Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar was facing the charges of misuse of authority in issuing sugar export permit to non-entitled persons in 1994.

Mukhtar had come out so aggressively against The News that he blamed a correspondent of The News, Ahmad Noorani, for pursuing yellow journalism. On Saturday, it was proved that it was not Noorani but the minister who was a liar and misleading the people.

Likewise, Minister for State for Law Afzal Sindhu also took the name of Nawab Yousaf Talpur, ex-MNA and former minister, who was co-accused in Ursus tractors case while the Nawab had denied taking benefit under the NRO on the floor of the National Assembly and also came public on the Geo TV, saying he did not benefit from the notorious law. What would he say now is an interesting question.

The Interior Minister, Rehman Malik, in one of his statements also said that his cases were withdrawn through proper legal process and that he did not avail the NRO but his name was included in the list of those who got themselves cleared from the NAB cases. The ex-additional director general FIA and presently Interior Minister Rehman Malik was accused of embezzlement of funds on account of unauthorised release of imported yellow cabs, illegal detention of complainant and illegal gratification.

Ex-secretary information and presently Pakistan’s ambassador to the US Husain Haqqani was a co-accused in Ms Benazir Bhutto’s case of TV channels. The case was withdrawn under the NRO but Haqqani has always been denying being an NRO beneficiary and even Saturday’s issue of The News carried his clarification, saying he never availed the NRO.

Haqqani was almost on the verge of crying while talking to Kamran Khan on Geo TV on Saturday night and said he would contest his case in courts. He also asked all others accused to go to the courts and clear themselves.

The tale of former interior minister Aftab Ahmed Sherpao is also not different as he also publicly announced that he was not an NRO-beneficiary but the government’s list shows that he was accused of misuse of authority, illegal allotment of plots and assets case and his case was withdrawn under the NRO.

Afzal Sindhu, in his press conference, also hurled a surprise to ex-federal minister Anwar Saifullah Khan, by showing him as an NRO beneficiary while Saifullah had issued a detailed clarification in newspapers claiming that he never availed any benefit from the nefarious law. He was accused of misuse of authority in allocation of the LPG and illegal appointments.

It is worth mentioning here that the MQM has also been saying that criminal cases registered against its workers have been withdrawn under ordinary criminal law and the list of the NRO beneficiaries of criminal cases also brought shocking surprises for the MQM.

The official list of the NRO beneficiaries contains the names of President Asif Ali Zardari, his several close associates, both political and bureaucratic, including Rehman Malik, Salman Farooqi and his brother Usman Farooqi, Husain Haqqani, Wajid Shamsul Hasan and Siraj Shamsuddin and over 8,000 others.

Ahmad Noorani adds: After the announcement of his name in the NRO list, Ahmned Mukhtar should come forward as a decent and honourable man and offer his apologies for being unnecessarily rough and rude when I published his name in my story.

The government does not plan to freeze the foreign accounts, particularly those in Switzerland, of the NRO beneficiaries. However, Swiss or London courts can be moved on the ground that the corruption cases which were earlier quashed under the NRO are going to re-open.

“Our laws do not contain anything that we should tell foreign courts about our latest decision and provide them with the list of the NRO beneficiaries,” Minister of State for Law and Justice Afzal Sindhu told The News.

Sindhu said the list of the NRO beneficiaries was announced only for the people of Pakistan, and not for the whole world or foreign courts. He, however, admitted that the NRO was also used to get cases cleared from foreign courts as the concerned authorities and the NAB prosecutors pleaded for the same after the promulgation of the ordinance.

“These kind of cases fall under the category of the sovereignty guarantee of the government of Pakistan. And in my opinion, the foreign accounts’ cases stand withdrawn and cannot be re-opened.”

At the same time, a PPP federal minister, not a beneficiary of the ordinance, said the courts in other countries could take up the cases without the government’s involvement. “But President Zardari is out of accountability ambit till he is holding the top office,” he said.

PML-N leader Khwaja Muhammad Asif told The News that there were two famous cases in foreign courts ñ one about the ownership of $60 million Swiss accounts and the other about the ownership of the Surrey Palace. “These cases should be reopened in order to know the source of income,” he said.

Khwaja Asif said the law minister concealed the corruption amount of the NRO beneficiaries. “This was the reason behind the delay in making public the list.”

A National Accountability Bureau (NAB) official was of the view that the Supreme Court would give a judgment as to whether these foreign accounts should be re-opened or not.

People like Shahid Masood think that if one wants to succeed or want to grow and reach some top government position or want to make lots of money, one have to abuse, curse and shout at the government. I say shame on you. You deliver sermons and lectures for money against and for the government and fall in the lap of the same government. What could we expect from is a failed surgeon by profession who got attracted some 7-8 years ago toward journalism and whose thinking was that journalism brings in a lot of money. Shahid Masood is playing in foreign hands that are working against Pakistan. He will be known as an agent of agencies in near future, since majority of people already know him…..!!!!

@Zubair Ch…don’t be so jealous of Shahid Masood that your pants start falling….lollzzz…… if he is earning handsome money, much more than you obviously are struggling to even come close, he is burning midnight oil for his pains and he speaks the language of masses……whether he is a failed surgeon or not is not known, however, he certainly has a huge fan club that listens very attentively when Shahid Masood delivers, as you inappropriately put it, sermons. I dont get it why are you so angry and out of wits?

you can do better than dubbing Shahid Masood as an agent of agencies because this allegation has lost its sparkle ages ago and now it induces yawn on readers……..if he were not as popular as you have implied, GEO TV management would not be paying him so highly and richly………it is a commercial world my dear that we live in and one is paid only what one is worthy of……don’t be jealous, be competitive if you like!!!!
