Asif Zardari Says he is ready to return all powers to PM.President Asif Ali Zardari asserted that the government will take all the decisions according to the Constitution of Pakistan.
Addressing a consultative meeting of senior PPP workers, who are also ministers in the federal and Sindh cabinets, at the Bilawal House on Thursday, President Zardari said: “Whether these decisions are related to the Supreme Court of Pakistan, programme for the rights of Balochistan or National Finance Commission (NFC) Award, these will be taken within the ambit of the Constitution.
He said: “We are the political party which gave the 1973 Constitution to Pakistan. We have continued our struggle for a long time within the boundaries of law. We will also keep alive the legacy of democracy in a democratic way.”
Sindh Information Minister Shazia Marri, who briefed the newsmen after the meeting said President Zardari has vowed to face the non-issues, which are raised with the aim to divert the focus of the government from implementing people-friendly policies and measures to improve the life of the common man.
She said President Asif Zardari, who is also PPP co-chairman said the PPP has a track record of respecting the judgments of the courts. “We have always respected the institutions. We can differ with an individual’s opinion or statement but would not differ with an institution. We never did it in the past nor we will set any such tradition in future”, she declared quoting the PPP co-chairman.
She said President Zardari has highlighted the policies and issues of the party and also about the current political situation in the country where non-issues are being raised one after another.
Shazia Marri said the participants of the meeting appreciated the positive approach of President Asif Ali Zardari, who has been facing a continuous negative propaganda. They also reposed confidence in his leadership, she informed newsmen.
The meeting noted that the future line of action of the party will be in accordance with the Constitution of Pakistan and in keeping with the democratic norms. Presiding over a meeting in the Bilawal House in connection with evaluation of performance of PPP ministers in Sindh cabinet, President Asif Ali Zardari said only certain mercenary elements and spent bullets are targeting the government in TV channels. He declared that such actions would make no difference and their conspiracies cannot bring down the government.
“We respect the Supreme Court (SC) verdict on the NRO and we will not allow any clash to take place between state institutions,” he remarked.
Anti-democracy forces and political actors were out to pull down the government, he said, adding: “We will counter all challenges with full force. We will not be blackmailed by anyone and government will complete its tenure.”
Zardari asked ministers not to be deterred by conspiracies. He urged them to counter the conspiracies with popular force.
