Gritty Umar put Pakistan ahead

Umar Akmal is doing what his elder brother Kamran did at the start of the innings and Australia are running for cover. Pakistan are set for a tall total now.

to follow all the action as it unfolds
The younger Akmal hammered a hapless Mitchell Johnson for two sixes in the 18th over as he coasted to a brilliant fifty.
Mitchell Johnson struck tenth over. It took a sensational catch by David Warner to see off a rampaging Kamran Akmal, who had stunned the Australian attack into submission with an aggressive fifty.
Another catch for David Warner and this time it is Steve Smith who gets to pack off a well-settled Salman Butt.
Akmal and Butt had taken Pakistan off to a solid start against a strong Australian attack in in St Lucia.
A master stroke by Michael Clarke. The Aussie skipper brought on David Hussey and the offie responded by dismissing the dangerous Shahid Afridi.

Dirk Nannes, the highest wicket-taker of the tournament had an off day but did manage to get Khalid Latif off the last ball of his spell.
The Toss
Australia have won the toss and decided to bowl first in their semi-final clash against Pakistan in a rain-delayed start in St Lucia.
Ground Updates
The start of the second semi-final between Australia and Pakistan is headed for a late start though it has stopped raining in St Lucia and the super soppers are in action.
The covers are being removed now and it looks like we will get a word on when play will start shortly. Watch out for this space.
Brief Preview
After their miraculous entry into the semis, Pakistan face the uphill task of halting the Australian juggernaut in the second semifinal of the ICC Twenty20 World Cup on Friday.

Pakistan were pushed to the brink after their one-run defeat to New Zealand in their second Super Eight match but Shahid Afridi’s men bounced back to beat South Africa and with a stroke of luck sneaked into the semifinals.

Australia, on the other hand, have crushed whosoever have come under their wheels and remains unbeaten in the tournament so far but that reputation won’t count when they take on an enigmatic Pakistan on Friday.

For Australia, their battery of lethal fast bowlers have knocked the stuffing out of the opponent batsman, while Pakistan have an array of spinners who have dominated on the slow wickets in St Lucia.

looks like not enough prayers for the Pakistanis…Australia win. Without doubt one of the best performances to win a T20 match – unbelievable batting by M.Hussey and C.White.

I don’t even know why they brought on ajmal at the last over. Fast bowling with yorkers would have done it for Pakistan especially when all the spinners were getting hit.
